A Swedish study of Autism hit the headlines recently. Actually, it wasn't so much the study as they interpretation of it that hit 'home', literally.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina looked it over and came to the conclusion - Mom and Dad may be partly responsible. They figure that parental schizophrenia makes a child twice as likely to be afflicted with Autism. The same was not true for other mental/emotional issues such as depression or anxiety.
In other words, if you're 'nuts', you are more likely to have an Autistic child. As usual, these researchers are blaming Autism (in part anyway) in genetics. Well there may be a genetic component but I feel we use the 'gene' idea way too much.
Those who are familiar with E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique) or other such emotional healing techniques now very well our emotions can actually change or genetics! It's true. People like Bruce Lipton PhD, Masaru Emoto, Henry Tillard PhD (of Stanford), among others have shown what you feel as opposed to what you simply think, has profound effects on your body.
But even more to the point, this Swedish study and its subsequent interpretation leave out some very important ingredients to the Autism puzzle. The don’t talk about the vaccination acceleration our kids deal with even though kids today get 300% more vaccinations than just ten years ago!
They don't consider what we are doing to our food supply. There are more artificial flavors, colors and preservatives than ever before in the junk foods we seem so fond of.
They don't consider the sheer tsunami of pollution kids have to swim through everyday of their young lives. We are finding more and more toxins at higher and higher levels in our blood these days. Big adult bodies may be able to handle the load but it's highly unlikely that the little, developing and growing bodies will hold up so well.
No, it's the parents who have to take the hit. Big Pharma, Big Medicine, Big Corporations are off the hook. Now, I am not saying that Mom and Dad don't have a role in their child's development, whether for good or bad. But along with looking at the parental responsibilities, how about looking at the entire hazy horizon of possibilities. And that includes the environmental factors I just mentioned.
In fact, those are the areas where we need to look first, not only in determining a cause for Autism but for all disease potentials. So rather than just point the Fickle Finger of Fate at parents, after all they are easy targets, let's focus on the environment they have to help their kids grow up in.
Make sure the foods we feed them are whole, natural and clean. After all, we have evolved in Nature and every time we step outside it, we pay the penalty and no more than our children. Next, make sure the air; water and soil are clean and healthy. Don't use our food supply as a chemistry experiment for Big Business. And don't let Big Pharma or Big Medicine use our kids as pincushions for their profit.
Yes, Mom and Dad are easy and cheap targets. They don't have the financial clout of the Big Corporations. Actually, all you have to do is do the business math. When you add it up, we are talking about Billions in profits. And that may be the real cause behind Autism.
But Mom and Dad are the poster children instead.
